Niagara Falls Police were on routine patrol when dispatch received a call around 12:40pm on October 26th regarding a female pushing a shopping cart in and out of traffic on Niagara Falls Boulevard.
Officers quickly observed the female who kept weaving in and out of traffic causing other vehicles to move around her. The patrol vehicle pulled into the median and advised the female to stop pushing her shopping cart into oncoming traffic. The female smiled and continued to push the shopping cart into the roadway. In fact, she did not stop smiling.
Officers did a U-turn and parked directly in front of the female at which time they advised her to place her hands behind her back. The female declined and started pushing the cart back towards traffic.
Officers walked the female toward the sidewalk but she tripped over the curb and was handcuffed on the ground. She was transported to police headquarters for booking and processing. However, she was uncooperative.
While in the holding area, the female acted as if she was talking to another person when no one else was there. Officers called for AMR to transported her to Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center for a psych hold/evaluation. No further information is available at this time.
