15-year-old Sydney Sterlace from West Seneca West High School captivated the judges on NBC's competition The Voice during her audition on Monday night. Sterlace delivered a powerful rendition of Olivia Rodrigo's hit song "Driver's License," prompting all four judges to turn their chairs.
The moment Sterlace began her performance, it didn't take long for the first judge, Michael Bublé, to express interest by turning his chair. He was soon joined by Gwen Stefani, Snoop Dogg, and Reba McEntire, all of whom were left speechless by her vocals. The performance culminated in a standing ovation from Snoop Dogg and all other judges.
After introducing herself, Sterlace shocked the audience and judges alike by revealing her age.
"Are you serious?!" exclaimed Stefani, while Snoop Dogg left his seat in amazement.
"Wow, 15 years old?" added McEntire, clearly impressed.
As the judges vied for her to choose them as her coach for the upcoming season and Sterlace expressed her admiration for all of them. Ultimately, she made her decision. "I would love to work with any of you... but, I've had my heart set on Gwen this whole time."
Following her impressive performance, Sterlace took to Instagram on Tuesday morning to express her gratitude. "TEAM GWEN 💗✨✨🦋 To say I am so incredibly grateful for this experience would be an understatement. Thank you Gwen and all of the coaches for believing in me and turning your chairs🩷 Team Gwen season 26!!!!!! #teamgwen Thank you everyone so so much for all of the love and support I have gotten since my blind audition aired! This opportunity means the world to me and I have the best support system," she wrote.
Sterlace's passion for singing began at the age of seven and by ten she had already won first place at the Erie County Fair's Talent Competition. Since then, she has performed the National Anthem at Buffalo Sabres and Bisons games and is a regular performer at the annual Music is Art Festival organized by former Goo Goo Dolls band member Robby Takac.
