WATCH: Couple Almost Fall Over Edge of Niagara Falls while Taking Selfies


A viral video showing two visitors jumping over a safety fence at Niagara Falls has sparked concern for public safety. The footage, recorded by a passerby on October 7th, captures the individuals on the illegal side of the fence taking photos and videos a foot away from the edge despite clear warnings against such behavior.



“Look at those crazy people,” the man recording the incident can be heard saying as onlookers gasp in shock. The video shows one of the visitors sitting literally on the edge of the falls extending her phone out for a selfie while the other individual stands behind her capturing the moment on camera.



The scene has garnered thousands of views on social media.


Paul Forcier, Chief of Niagara Parks Police, confirmed that authorities are aware of the incident and an investigation is underway. He emphasizing the potential hazards involved, not to mention that it is illegal.



The Niagara Parks Act and the Trespass to Property Act classify climbing over the retaining wall as not only dangerous but also a criminal offense. However, this is not an isolated incident.


In previous years, there have been numerous cases of injuries and fatalities resulting from individuals disregarding safety barriers at the falls and surrounding areas. The two individuals featured in the video have yet to be identified and police are working to locate them.
