WATCH: Body Cam Footage Released of Niagara Falls Officer-Involved Shooting

Niagara Falls Police have released the body am footage of an incident from June 3rd, 2022, where an officer shot an armed suspect. 

Shortly after 1700 hours, when responding to a call for a suspicious person, officers approached a suspect behind the Rite Aid at 80th Street and Niagara Falls Blvd. During that interaction, the suspect tried to get away from officers and refused to comply with commands. Officers used a taser, with no effect on the suspect.

At that time, the suspect pulled a knife from his pocket, charged at officers, and stabbed an officer in his back. The suspect then attacked a second officer, at which point other responding officers shot him. Officers on-scene immediately began rendering first aid until medical personnel arrived.

The suspect, a 29-year-old male, was taken to ECMC and is currently in critical condition.

The officer who was stabbed sustained minor injuries to his back and arm.

The names of all officers involved are as follows: Officer Greg Paul, Officer Dominic Senese, Lieutenant Joseph Scibilia, and Officer Kayla Richards. 

The suspect has been identified as Reginald D. Barnes who continues to be in critical condition at ECMC.
