Violent Gas Station Robbery Results in Foot Chase with Three Suspects, Use of Force in Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls Police were engaged in routine patrol around 9pm on November 23rd in the area of 19th and Ferry Avenue when a female began waving them down at the Valero Gas Station.

The female stated that she and her boyfriend “got robbed” by three black males that just “ran down the alleyway.” Officers went down the alley and observed three black males walking southbound.

Officers exited their patrol vehicle and ordered all three parties to “show their hands.” They all then turned around and started running.

Officers chased the suspects on foot and called for backup. The suspects then split up and went different directions. One of the suspects was captured by an officer in an alleyway. Use of force was required to take down the suspect and place him under arrest.

He was placed in the rear of a patrol vehicle and taken back to the Valero Gas Station for positive identification by the victim(s). Once there, the victim(s) identified him as one of the suspects. AMR arrived on scene to evaluate the captured suspect for injuries sustained during the arrest.

The other two suspects were not apprehended.

Officers then spoke to one of the complainants who stated that he went into Valero to pay for gas when three black males walked into the store. The males asked if he could give them all a ride. The complainant stated no because he had his girl in the car.

The three males then left the store going towards the alleyway. The complainant went out to start putting gas in the car at which time the suspects approached him and repeatedly stated, “what do you got on you?”

The suspects then started “grabbing at his pants pockets, pushing him, attempting to rob him.”

One of the suspects had his hand near his waistband, implying he had a weapon on him. The complainant was then struck in the face with a closed fist. This is when the female ran into the store to call 911.

No further information is available at this time.
