Vigil Held for 15-year-old Luke Guetti, Killed by Truck in Tonawanda




The community of Tonawanda is mourning the tragic loss of 15-year-old Luke Guetti who was killed in a bicycle accident involving a truck on Tuesday night. It was announced on Thursday, July 25th that he succumbed to injuries sustained during the incident.



Family, friends and loved ones gathered for a vigil on Thursday night to remember Luke and honor his memory. He was described by family and friends as a beloved brother and student, known for his kind smile and numerous passions. He was described as a happy and exceptional young man who always maintained a positive attitude. It would be rare to hear him complain.


His unexpected passing has deeply affected everyone who knew him, with many in shock and sorrow at the vigil. In total, more than one hundred people showed up to show their support and love for Luke.



He was a student at Kenmore East High. The school community considers his death a tragedy and a tremendous loss. Luke was part of the Ken-East football program. His teammates, coaches and friends attended the vigil expressed their sadness at the loss of their friend. Many of whom had spent time with Luke at the gym the night before the accident and were devastated by the news.



According to the Tonawanda Police, Luke was riding a motorized bike on Tuesday night when he was struck by a truck at around 8:20pm. The details of the accident are still under investigation. As of today, no charges have been brought against the driver.



Family members and neighbors came together to share their cherished memories of Luke at the location of the accident. Candles, his favorite snacks, and flowers were placed as a tribute to a life lost too soon.


Luke leaves behind four brothers, a sister, and his parents and step-parents. His friends are determined to ensure that he is never forgotten with plans to retire his favorite number, 54, in his honor.



In the wake of this tragedy, a GoFundMe page has been set up to assist the family with funeral expenses. The community has already shown incredible support, with over $35,000 raised as of Thursday night. The outpouring of love and generosity is a testament to the impact Luke had on those around him and the deep sense of loss felt by the community.


Luke Guetti's memory will forever live on in the hearts of his loved ones, friends, and the community of Tonawanda.
