A man is recovering from multiple stab wounds following an attack by a coworker at an Applebee’s restaurant in Niagara Falls. The incident, which has left the victim's family frustrated and seeking answers, occurred on October 1st around 3pm.
According to law enforcement, 34-year-old Sam Keesler, an employee at the Applebee’s on Military Road, randomly stabbed another employee in the kitchen who has been identified as Gregory Moore.
Kimmissie Moore, the victim's sister, expressed her shock and disbelief over the violent altercation in an interview with News 4 WIVB (read in full HERE), stating that her brother and Keesler had never had any issues with one another.
“They used to take cigarette breaks together,” she said. “They’ve never gotten into any altercations. There was never any bad blood between the two.”
Moore criticized Applebee’s management for their response during the incident and claimed that her brother was pleading for help from the manager on duty but received no assistance.
“He was begging for help,” she recounted. “He was literally asking the manager that was on duty to help him, but they didn’t.”
Fortunately, Gregory Moore did not require major surgery and is currently recovering in the hospital. Sam Keesler has been charged with second-degree assault, but Moore believes it's insufficient given the severity of the attack.
“By the grace of God my brother will be ok, and he will eventually heal from his wounds,” she said. “We don’t know how bad the trauma is going to impact his mental state. But how did you just get a slap on the hand with that?”
Niagara County Sheriff Michael Filicetti addressed the charges in an interview with News 4 WIVB, explaining that the second-degree assault charge was based on the seriousness of Gregory Moore's injuries and the fact that he is expected to recover. However, he did not rule out the possibility of additional charges in the future.
