Niagara Falls Police responded to an area in the vicinity of Main Street and Ontario Avenue around 6:30pm on August 17th after reports of criminal mischief. Specifically, that a male had caused an entire street to be obstructed by rocks, cinder blocks and glass.
While en route to the reported location, officers observed a male walking that matched the description given of the suspect. They stopped and immediately detained the individuals. While with the suspect, other officers had reached the location and confirmed that there was “a large area on the 900 block of Ontario Avenue obstructed by rocks, cinder blocks and glass” as described by the callers.
The complainants positively identified the male in a show up. Both confirmed that they saw him place multiple large rocks and cinder blocks in the roadway preventing traffic from using the street. They also both stated that they observed the male smashing glass bottles in the road when they drove away. According to the one complainant, she was fearful of how the male would act if he got close to their vehicle because he appeared angry.
The male was transported to police headquarters for booking and processing. He was given an appearance ticket and released. No further information is available at this time.
