
The Niagara Falls Police Department is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred around 2:30am on Sunday, August 25th. Police responded to reports of a shooting in the vicinity of 4th Street and Niagara Street.
Upon arrival, officers discovered that one of the victims had been transported to the hospital in a private vehicle. After relocating to the hospital, a second gunshot victim was located. Both victims, identified as a male and a female, were later transferred to ECMC for treatment. Fortunately, their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening and both are expected to recover.
According to initial reports, the shots were fired from behind the 7-Eleven on the corner of 4th and Niagara Street. Niagara Falls Police and New York State Park Police conducted a thorough search of the area for evidence of a crime scene. However, they were unable to immediately locate any evidence or identify the exact location where the shooting took place.
To aid in the investigation, a specially trained K-9 unit from the Niagara County Sheriff's Office arrived on scene. The K-9 unit searched the area but similarly found nothing.
Law enforcement is continuing to investigate the incident and find the scene where both victims were shot. The motive behind the shooting remains unknown at this time and there are no suspects.
