Trespasser Charges at Police with Pepper Spray at Niagara Gospel Mission

Trespasser Charges at Police with Pepper Spray at Niagara Gospel Mission

Niagara Falls Police responded to the Niagara Gospel Mission on the 1300 block of Portage Road around 10:45pm on November 20th for the second time that night for an unwanted person.

Prior to arrival, officers were notified by dispatch that a male known to police was back inside the Niagara Gospel Mission. Officers had dispersed this same male from the Mission just a few hours prior after he was told he could not return by the Gospel Mission's manager.

Upon arrival, officers observed the male in the Mission’s lobby. Officers asked the male multiple times to leave the property. He refused. The male then started to walk out but would not leave from the doorway. He told officers, “I’m not leaving” and “you can’t make me leave.”

The male then grabbed a small canister of pepper spray and began charging toward officers while shaking the can. It was apparent to officers that the male intended to pepper spray them and cause physical injury. Officers quickly prevented the incident and apprehended the male. He was placed under arrest and escorted to the rear of a patrol vehicle.

The male was transported to police headquarters where he was booked and processed without incident. He was released with an appearance ticket. No further information is available at this time.
