This funding is geared towards the transformation of an existing vacant building into a vibrant teen center, marking a collaborative effort between the City of Niagara Falls, the Niagara Falls City School District, and the Niagara Falls Boys and Girls Club, as highlighted in a press release by U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.

Furthermore, the senators emphasized their role, alongside former Congressman Brian Higgins, in securing a significant allocation of $14,981,864 for Buffalo and Western New York as part of the upcoming FY24 appropriations bills. These funds are designated to bolster various critical initiatives, including infrastructure enhancement, water system upgrades, clean energy workforce training at Northland and through GreenForce Training, support for the University of Buffalo's new research center, and more.

Schumer underscored the importance of this federal funding, stating, "This nearly $15 million in federal funding is making major investments in the future clean energy workforce, helping fix our aging water infrastructure, boosting public safety, and our top-notch university right here in Western New York and will build a stronger community in Buffalo and beyond."

Echoing Schumer's sentiments, Gillibrand emphasized the commitment to allocating millions towards improving transportation, revitalizing water infrastructure, enhancing public safety, and fostering a highly skilled workforce across Western New York. She expressed pride in securing this funding and affirmed her dedication to ensuring the prosperity of Western New York families, workers, and businesses.
