Third Home Invasion in Less than a Week in Niagara Falls

Third Home Invasion in Less than a Week in Niagara Falls

Niagara Falls Police responded to the 500 block of 26th Street around 10am on August 21st after reports of a burglary that was ultimately determined to be a home invasion.

Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainant who stated sometime overnight someone entered her house through the side door and stole a PlayStation 5, car keys, and vehicle. She went to sleep at approx. 11pm and her vehicle was still there. When she woke up a short time later, she noticed the items and vehicle to be missing.

The complainant admitted that she did leave the side door unlocked overnight. Officers then spoke to the complainant’s father who stated that he heard noises coming from the side door around 4am and looked outside but did not see anyone. He did not look to see if the vehicle was there at that time.

Officers spoke to a representative from OnStar who confirmed that the vehicle was being treated as stolen. They told police that the vehicle was still in Niagara Falls and deactivated the engine. Other offices located the vehicle and the complainant retrieved it a short time later.

Detectives arrived at both the home and location where the vehicle was found to process the scenes. According to the security footage, at 3:20am an unknown male walked into the front yard and went directly to the side door. After a few minutes, you can see the individual walk back out to the vehicle, turn it on and leave. There are no known suspects. No further information is available at this time.
