Terry Pegula, co-owner of the Buffalo Bills, recently shared heartfelt sentiments about his wife, Kim Pegula, emphasizing the void her absence has created within the organization and their family. His comments came during the NFL owners meetings in Irving, Texas, where the Bills announced the addition of ten new limited partners to their ownership group.
Among the new partners are two women, Sue McCollum and Theresia Gouw, a move that holds particular significance for Terry Pegula. He expressed his desire to enhance female representation within the team’s leadership.
“One of my goals was to bring in some women,” he stated. “We now have two female ambassadors who are accomplished business leaders. I have three daughters involved with the team, and I hope they will take on more roles in the future. It’s crucial for them to gain business insights and have female perspectives, especially since Kim’s absence has left a significant gap in their understanding of the business side of things.”
Kim Pegula was a vital part of the organization until she suffered a severe cardiac arrest two and a half years ago. Although she made a public appearance in July, participating in the team’s post-practice huddle, she continues to face challenges stemming from a brain injury that occurred after her cardiac event shortly after her 53rd birthday in June 2022. In an essay published in February 2023, her daughter, professional tennis player Jessica Pegula, revealed that Kim has been dealing with “significant expressive aphasia and memory issues.”
Terry Pegula reflected on the personal touch Kim brought to the team, saying, “We all miss her, especially me. She was the heart of our family and the organization, always sending out Christmas cards and baking cookies for the coaches. She would wake up at 3am every Sunday to make cookies for the coaches. That personal connection is something we all deeply miss.”
