Niagara Falls Police responded to Maytag Laundry on the 1600 block of Main Street around 2am on November 3rd after reports of a subject with a gun.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who described the suspect as a white male wearing a black hoodie, unknown color ski mask with a black fanny pack. He was in the back area of the laundromat when he brandished an all-black firearm.
The victim told officers that he was at the laundromat doing laundry with a friend when he noticed a white male (the suspect) towards the rear of the building staring at him. The victim asked the suspect a question to which the suspect responded, “do we have a problem?”
The victim stated he was taken aback by the response and, before he could even reply, the suspect reached into his fanny pack that was across his chest and pulled out a black handgun. He “made a motion like he was going to use it against me,” said the victim.
Officers established a perimeter around the building, covering all points of exit before making entry. A lieutenant observed a male matching the description of the suspect near a set of dryers. He saw the suspect conceal something between the dryers but was lying face down on the ground.
Responding officers quickly detained the male. He was searched for weapons at which time a set of brass knuckles were found. Officers did search the area where the suspect was observed attempting to hide something and found a black replica firearm with the word “glock” written on it.
The suspect was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for booking and processing. The gun was later determined to be a BB gun. No further information is available.
