Suspect Creates Flamethrower with Propane Tank, Sets Field Ablaze


Niagara Falls Police responded to the 400 block of 20th Street around 11:30am on August 14th after reports of a male lighting an empty field on fire.


Upon arrival, multiple officers were speaking with an individual who matched the description given by dispatch of a male wearing a white t-shirt and red hat. Officers observed the field south of his property on fire.



Officers then observed a propane tank connected to what appeared to be a hose on the sidewalk in between his property and the empty field. It is believed he might have used the hose as some sort of flamethrower. There is no known motive at this time.


The male was taken into custody and placed in the rear of a patrol vehicle where he was transported to police headquarters for booking and processing.



Detectives responded to the scene for processing and spoke with the suspect at police headquarters. No further information is available at this time – Suspect Creates Flamethrower with Propane Tank, Sets Field Ablaze.
