On November 19th, 2024, Niagara County Sheriff’s Deputies assigned at the Niagara County Social Services Lockport building located and arrested a suspect from a weapons violation that had occurred in that building on November 5th, 2024.
During the November 5th incident, a male entered into the building in possession of a loaded handgun. The handgun was recovered by Deputies at the entrance security checkpoint and the male fled the scene.
Deputies assigned to Social Services Lockport worked alongside Investigators from the Niagara County Criminal Investigation Bureau to ascertain the identity of the suspect and subsequently charge him. Matthew D. Walker, 23- year-old male from Lockport, was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree-Loaded Firearm, which is a C Felony.
Walker was issued paperwork, fingerprinted, processed at the Niagara County Sheriff's Office and was transported to the City of Lockport where he was held for arraignment. Walker was already on NYS Parole for Criminal Possession of a Weapon and as a result of this arrest, a warrant was issued by NYS Parole and Walker was remanded to the Niagara County Correctional Facility on a violation of Parole.
