Stolen Vehicle Discovered in McDonald's Drive-thru, Teen Injures Officer Trying to Flee


An 18-year-old Buffalo teen, identified as Savveyon Izel, is facing a slew of charges after allegedly injuring an Erie County Sheriff's deputy while attempting to flee in a stolen vehicle. The incident occurred on Wednesday, according to an announcement by the Erie County Sheriff's Office (ECSO).


Deputies from the ECSO spotted a stolen BMWout of Buffalo being driven by Izel in the drive-thru of a McDonald's on William Street at approximately 3:10pm. Law enforcement officials immediately moved to take Izel into custody. However, during the arrest attempt, Izel allegedly reversed the stolen BMW crashing into an ECSO vehicle and injuring the deputy operating it.


Officials further revealed that Izel then drove towards another deputy nearly running him over before managing to escape. In response to the life-threatening situation, an ECSO personnel fired one round from their department-issued weapon.



Shortly after the incident, the stolen BMW was located on Sweet Avenue. Izel was subsequently apprehended and now faces a range of charges including assault on a peace officer, attempted assault on a peace officer, first-degree reckless endangerment, two counts of second-degree criminal mischief, first-degree unauthorized use of a vehicle, third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, resisting arrest, second-degree obstructing governmental administration, and multiple vehicle and traffic law violations.
