Niagara Falls Police responded to Walmart on June 19th around 7:00am after reports that a male and female were trying to cool down on a 90-degree day by stealing an air conditioner and soda pop. We suspect they had an operating fridge already.
Upon arrival, police spoke to loss prevention who told them the two shoplifters that left the store were still in the parking lot. Officers received the vehicle information and located the suspects quickly.
The suspects identified themselves and were brought back inside to loss prevention.
According to the agent, the suspects selected an air conditioner ($169) and two 12 packs of pop ($15.44) and passed all points of purchase without payment.
Both suspects saw that loss prevention was taking photos of their vehicle and moved to a different location in the parking lot. It is not known why the suspects stayed in the Walmart parking lot instead of leaving.
The female then went back into Walmart, scanned the barcode for the air conditioner and paid for it. Trespass notices were issued to both parties, which they refused to sign. Officers gave each an appearance ticket.
