Steak Thief Calls Tops Employee to Brag and Threaten His Family

Niagara Falls Police responded to the 9300 block of Cayuga Drive around 12:00pm on June 30th after reports that a steak thief had damaged a Tops employees’ vehicle.

Upon arrival, police spoke to the complainant who stated he works at Tops and yesterday observed a male suspect place a steak in his pocket and pass all points of purchase without rendering payment. The complainant asked the suspect to pay for the steak, but he denied having it on his persons and left the store. This incident was reported to police.

Today, the suspect called Tops asking to speak to the complainant by name. The suspect told him “thanks for the steak” and made comments about hurting the complainant and his family. Further, he told him his full name and address.

The complainant, upset with the threats towards him, drove to the suspect’s home on Cayuga Drive. During the argument that ensued, the suspect picked up a cinder block and threw it at the complainant’s vehicle, damaging it. The estimated damage was $200-500.

The suspect was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters for booking and processing before being released on an appearance ticket. No further information is available.
