Starpoint Schools Superintendent to Return Amid DWI Charge with School Board's Support

Sean Croft, the superintendent of Starpoint Schools, is set to return to his position on November 14th following a DWI charge stemming from an incident in August. The Starpoint School Board unanimously approved revisions to Croft's contract during a special meeting on Monday night and affirmed their "full support" for him.

Board President Jeffrey Duncan released a statement emphasizing the board's careful consideration of the situation by balancing the seriousness of the incident with Croft's long-standing dedication to the district.

"It has been apparent through our conversations with Dr. Croft that he has taken responsibility for his actions and has demonstrated a commitment to personal growth," Duncan stated.

While the board made changes to Croft's contract, the specifics of these modifications have not been disclosed. The district has so far declined to release the revised contract.

Croft was charged by West Seneca police with DWI, unsafe lane change, and imprudent speed following a one-vehicle crash on August 31st. He is scheduled to appear in West Seneca Town Court on November 12th. The criminal matter has not been resolved.

In a written statement from his defense attorney, Herbert L. Greenman, Croft expressed gratitude to the School Board members for their confidence and trust.

"I would like to sincerely apologize for any distractions this situation may have caused from our core mission of empowering all of our students to fulfill their maximum potential," he said.

Croft also pledged to lead with "transparency, integrity, and a renewed dedication to the success and well-being of our students."
