Starpoint School District Addresses Families, Students After Superintendent's DWI Arrest

NJ Man Sentenced to 15 Years in Prison for Violent Assaults with Bat, Stomping Victim's Head on Ground

The Starpoint Central School District has released a letter to the community addressing the recent arrest of Superintendent Sean M. Croft for driving while intoxicated. The letter, signed by Starpoint Board of Education President Jeffrey Duncan, emphasizes the district's commitment to high standards and the expectation that leadership reflects these values.

The incident occurred on August 31st in West Seneca when Croft's vehicle sustained significant front-end damage and the airbags deployed after crashing into a tree. Croft failed several field sobriety tests and registered a positive result on a roadside breath test.

He was subsequently charged with DWI, moving from lane unsafely, and imprudent speed. Croft received appearance tickets and is scheduled to appear in West Seneca Justice Court later this month.

The Starpoint Central School District issued a letter to community members on Friday, September 6th. The letter emphasizes the district's commitment to high standards. It states:

The Board of Education recognizes the seriousness of the situation involving our Superintendent, Dr. Croft.

At Starpoint Central School District, we hold the members of our school community to high standards, and we expect our leadership to reflect the same values.

The Board is committed to ensuring that we have all of the relevant information and that all facts are carefully evaluated before we make a decision regarding this matter.

Maureen Braunscheidel will continue to serve as Acting Superintendent during Dr. Croft's absence.

We appreciate the community's trust as we navigate this difficult situation. We will continue to provide updates as we are able.
