Niagara Falls Police responded to Family Dollar on the 800 block of Portage Road around 10pm on May 8th after reports of a shoplifter.
Dispatch advised officers that the a black male wearing a grey hooded sweatshirt was currently in the store concealing merchandise and getting ready to leave.
Prior to officers’ arrival, police had located the above-mentioned suspect on the 700 block of Pine Avenue The male suspect was later taken into custody.
After arriving at Family Dollar, officers spoke to the manager who stated she observed the male conceal several items including men’s clothing and electronic speakers. She approached the male who immediately exited the store without paying for the items.
All merchandise totaled $114.87.
Dispatch advised officers that the male had two active warrants out of the City of Niagara Falls as well as an active trespass notice from Family Dollar. He was transported to police headquarters for booking and processing.
