Youngstown's festive tradition, Christmas in the Village, is set to return to the River Region on Saturday, Dec. 9th. Hosted by the village and local businesses, the event will fill the day with a range of festive activities aimed at entertaining all ages. This year's theme is holiday gnomes and will be hosted across various locations including the Youngstown Red Brick Village Center at 240 Lockport St.
Activities at the Red Brick will kick off at 11 a.m., continuing until 3 p.m., featuring crafting in the Youngstown Free Library for children and a basket raffle for adults. Also at the Red Brick, visitors can shop for gifts at a vendors market, showcasing crafts, decorations, and food items. Santa will make an entrance at noon in the Village Center parking lot.
The event will also include story time with Santa at the Red Brick’s Cora Gushee Room, a Christmas coloring competition open to all ages, and free hot dogs and popcorn offered by the Youngstown Lions Club. There will be festive activities at the Porter Historical Society Museum, VFW Lake Ontario Post 313 and further holiday crafts in the Red Brick community room.
The nearby Old Fort Niagara will hold its Christmas by Candlelight event on Dec. 9 and 16. The Youngstown Garden Club is offering holiday tours of the historical Ontario House until Dec. 17.
Free hot dogs and popcorn courtesy of the Youngstown Lions Club will be available along with free horse and carriage rides, Santa visits, and exploration of the business district.
Participating local merchants include children's apparel shop, Sister and Brother, outdoor store Barker Outdoors, liquor store Anchor Spirits, local market Everything Youngstown, wellness shop Organique Skincare and Wellness; with refreshments from the Ontario House, Village Diner, Youngstown Marketside Café, Hill of Beans Coffee Shop and Petey Treats.
