Residence Burglarized While Homeowner Was in Assisted Living Facility

Niagara Falls Police responded to the 400 block of 19th Street around 1200 hours on Tuesday, May 24th, 2022, after reports of a burglary.

Upon arrival, police spoke with the complainant who stated that he came to the residence around 1030 hours and upon entering the home observed the hallway door off its hinged and propped up against the wall.

The complainant then stated that while going through the remainder of the house every single room appeared to have been rummaged through. Specifically, drawers were pulled out and dumped all of the floor and furniture.

The complainant then went upstairs and observed the door to the upstairs to be kicked in with damage to the door frame. He also went to the basement and observed one of the basement windows to be kicked out and placed on the counter.

Of note, the complainant stated that twenty binders of baseball cards with an unknown value were missing from the house in addition to a lawn mower valued at $500. The estimated damage to the two door frames and basement window is $450.00.

A witness in the area told police that at approx. 2000 hours on May 23rd, 2022, he saw a white female and a black male walking south on 19th Street in the direction of the residence and then heard what sounded like someone kicking a door.
