The Buffalo Police Department announced a successful search warrant execution conducted on Tuesday, July 16th resulting in the discovery of various suspected drugs including over 7 pounds of fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, three firearms, and a substantial amount of cash.
The search warrant was executed on the 900 block of Northland Avenue. During the operation, law enforcement officials uncovered a significant quantity of illicit substances. Approximately 7 1/2 pounds of suspected fentanyl pills, 1 pound of suspected methamphetamine pills, 2 grams of suspected fentanyl, and 2 grams of suspected powder cocaine were seized. The discovery of these substances highlights the ongoing battle against the illegal drug trade in the city. Given that 1 kilogram of fentanyl can kill an estimated 500,000 people, the 7 pounds seized had the potential to kill an estimated 1.5 million people.
In addition to the drugs, police also found drug paraphernalia and a substantial sum of $14,910 in cash, suggesting the involvement of significant financial transactions related to the illegal drug activities. The search also led to the recovery of three firearms. Among the firearms seized were a Smith & Wesson Airweight revolver, a Polymer 80 "ghost gun" loaded with seven rounds, and a Taurus G3 loaded with seven rounds.
As a result of the operation, Buffalo resident 24-year-old Jarrett Gauer was taken into custody. Gauer faces multiple charges including two counts of first-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, one count of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, three counts of criminal possession of a firearm, two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and three counts of second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia.
