Niagara Falls Police were at a 7-Eleven on Hyde Park Boulevard around 6:30pm on Thursday, March 14th, when officers saw a male known to have active warrants out of the City of Niagara Falls.
Police requested the male stop where he was, at which time he started to walk backwards and begin to run. As the male was running from police, officers saw him reach into the front of his waistband and throw the object over a backyard fence. The male then jumped over a wooden fence and ran through the backyard, evading officers. Law enforcement located the firearm and stayed with it rather than pursuing the male.
Assisting officers were given his last known location and he was ultimately apprehended a short time thereafter.
