Niagara Falls Police responded to the 600 block of 10th Street around 8:30am on January 12th after reports of a stolen vehicle.
Upon arrival, officers spoke to the complainant who stated that at approx. 7:30am he started his 2017 white Toyota Tundra using his key and about 5 minutes later it had been taken. He further told police that at no time did he give permission for anyone else to use the vehicle and wanted to press charges on whoever did take it.
Fortunately, the wife’s Airpods were in the Tundra that had a GPS feature. The Airpods tracked to the vicinity of the Monteagle Ridge Apartments. Officers relocated to that area and found the Tundra. They then looked inside of the vehicle and observed that a duffel bag and Airpods, which the complainant stated were inside, had been taken.
Next to the vehicle were footprints that tracked across the parking lot to a garage at the Monteagle Apartments. While there, officers located a black male hiding behind a garage. He was taken into custody and, while being patted down for weapons, found to be in possession of the Airpods.
The male was placed under arrest and transported to police headquarters for booking and processing. No further information is available at this time.
