Niagara Falls Police were on routine patrol around 3:45am on January 29th when officers observed a 2024 black Kia fail to yield at a stop sign in the area of 18th and Whitney Avenue.
At this time, officers activated patrol lights to initiate a traffic stop. While approaching the vehicle, officers observed one occupant in the vehicle and, upon looking into the vehicle, saw an open bottle of patron on the floor.
The male operator stated he was not under the influence and that the bottle was opened at a different time.
The male was asked to exit the vehicle and complied. While he was detained at the back of his vehicle, officers searched the vehicle. While doing so, officers found a small pink cylinder containing suspected drugs.
The male stated that the suspected drugs were “used for fingerprinting” by his girlfriend and it was not his.
Officers continued to search the vehicle and found additional drugs in the center console. In addition, they found a prescription bottle in the male’s bag that was not prescribed to him.
The male was issued an appearance ticket and released. No further information is available at this time.
