Niagara Falls Police responded to City Market Liquors on Pine Avenue around 1:00am on August 18th after reports of a robbery.
Upon arrival, officers were met by the owner. He stated that while he was sitting down inside the store, one of his frequent customers entered, grabbed a bottle and exited without paying. Caught off guard, the owner tried to stop him from stealing the bottle.
During the attempt to retrieve the stolen merchandise, the suspect punched him in the fact and then hit him over the head with the bottle. The owner was knocked out and disorientated for several minutes.
The owner’s son showed officers the surveillance footage of the robbery. The suspect described as a black male wearing white and black shoes, black pants tucked inside green socks, a black jacket with reflective colors on the bottom, a green hat and two pairs of sunglasses. The events reported by the owner were corroborated.
During the altercation, the owner received a laceration on his left ear from getting hit with the bottle of liquor. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment. No further information is available at this time.
