Over $50k in Cash and Food Stolen from Pony's Irish Pub in Niagara County

A couple from Depew, Steven McCarthy (39) and Juliet McCarthy (38) have been accused of stealing a substantial amount of money from Pony's Irish Pub in Middleport, Niagara County. The McCarthys, who were former employees of the pub, were reported to the New York State Troopers by the bar last month.

During the period of 2020 to 2024, when Pony's was undergoing renovations, the couple allegedly engaged in a scheme to steal cash and unprepared food from the establishment. State police claim that Steven and Juliet McCarthy collaborated to regularly pilfer money from the cash-only business, resulting in a total theft exceeding $50,000.

The charges brought against the McCarthys include enterprise corruption, conspiracy, and second and third-degree grand larceny, all of which are felony offenses. Following their processing at the Lockport New York State Police barracks, they were handed over to the Niagara County Sheriff's office to await their arraignment.
