Niagara Falls Police responded to the Niagara Riverside Resort on the 7000 block of Buffalo Avenue around 10am on August 23rd after reports of a larceny.
Upon arrival, police spoke to the owner of a roofing company who wanted to report a pallet of wood that was stolen overnight. He explained that his roofing company was contracted to put a new roof on the hotel, so he has a lot of roofing products in the hotel lot.
He and his work crew left the site the prior night and was aware that a pallet of wood was left unsecured, adjacent to the hotel. When he returned this morning at 7:30am, he noticed the pallet was gone. The pallet contained 2in x 6in x 10ft of pressure treated lumber and valued it at $1,617.
Officers poke to hotel employees and requested to view the surveillance footage. However, the footage required a security password which none of the employees working had. A security employee was to contact police the following day to make the security footage available. No further information is available at this time.
