Opening of Buffalo City Pools on July 1; Splash Pads Already Available

As temperatures rise and summer approaches, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown has announced the eagerly awaited opening of five city pools on July 1st. The Centennial, Houghton, JFK, Kensington, and Riverside outdoor pools will provide a refreshing escape for residents throughout the summer season. However, city residents will have to wait until July 1 to take a dip in these outdoor pools, as they are currently closed.

In the meantime, residents can enjoy the city's 10 splash pads which are already open and ready for use. These splash pads offer a fun and interactive way for families and individuals to cool off during the hot summer days. Located at various parks throughout the city, the splash pads are a popular attraction for children and adults alike.

The city's splash pads are currently open every day from 2pm to 7pm. Starting June 25th, the operating hours will be extended, allowing visitors to enjoy the splash pads from 11am to 7pm. The locations of the splash pads include Ralph Wilson Park at the foot of Porter Ave., Allison Park adjacent to the Asarese-Matters Community Center on Reese St., MLK Jr. Park Basin at Best St. and Fillmore Ave., Lanigan Park on South Park Ave. west of Louisiana St., Lincoln Park at the foot of Quincy St., Cazenovia Park behind the park casino, Houghton Park at the foot of Spahn St., Schiller Park on the Sprenger St. side of the park, Roosevelt Park at the foot of Roosevelt Ave., and Kensington Pool and Splash Pad at 665 Kensington Ave.

The opening of the five city pools on July 1st will provide additional options for residents seeking relief from the summer heat. These pools will be open from July 1st through Labor Day, welcoming visitors from 11am to 7pm. The extended hours will allow individuals and families to enjoy the pools during the warmest parts of the day.

It is important to note that the city's two indoor pools, the Cazenovia-Connors, Kait, Harrity Memorial Pool, and Lovejoy pools, are open year-round for free and lap swimming.

These indoor facilities provide a convenient option for residents looking to swim and exercise, regardless of the weather conditions.

As the city prepares for the opening of the outdoor pools, residents are encouraged to take advantage of the currently available splash pads. These family-friendly attractions offer a safe and enjoyable way to beat the heat and create lasting summer memories.

Buffalo residents eagerly await the opening of the city pools on July 1st, looking forward to a summer filled with fun, relaxation, and relief from the scorching temperatures.
