A small plane crash in a residential neighborhood of the Town of Aurora on Thursday morning has resulted in one fatality according to police. The incident occurred just before 11:30am in the vicinity of 100 Stewart Court, which is several hundred feet from the home of Buffalo Bills LT Dion Dawkins.
The aircraft, which took off from Lansing, Michigan, was en route to White Plains, located north of New York City. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries on the ground.
Emergency responders, including State Police and the Erie County Sheriff’s Office, quickly arrived at the scene. The deceased pilot, whose identity has not yet been released, had declared an emergency shortly before the crash due to mechanical issues and was attempting to divert to Buffalo Niagara International Airport.
An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
