A New York State Trooper sustained serious injuries on Friday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle. The incident occurred in Niagara County when a Youngstown woman allegedly failed to yield the right of way while exiting the Niagara Scenic Parkway northbound onto Route 93 in the Town of Porter.
The collision took place as the New York State Police motorcycle, traveling eastbound, struck the vehicle driven by the Youngstown woman. State police have confirmed that the trooper was conducting a safety run for the upcoming Dice Run organized by the WNY Riding Lions Club at Mercy Flight, scheduled for Saturday.
The injured trooper was immediately transported to ECMC with serious injuries while the Youngstown woman was taken to St. Mary's Hospital with minor injuries. The identity of the trooper will be released at a later time.
Authorities have clarified that intoxication did not play a role in the crash. However, an ongoing investigation into the incident is underway.
