North Tonawanda Man Shot, Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder


A 19-year-old man from North Tonawanda was the victim of a shooting on Monday night that led to the arrest of a Buffalo man on multiple charges including attempted murder. Buffalo Police reported that officers responded to a shooting call on the 800 block of Tonawanda Street around 10:30pm.


Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim covered in blood, suffering from gunshot wounds to his leg. Emergency medical personnel transported him to ECMC where he was treated for what was initially deemed a life-threatening injury.




In connection with the shooting, 37-year-old Hector Martinez was apprehended without incident on the 200 block of Thompson Street. He faces several serious charges including: Second-degree attempted murder, First-degree assault, Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, and First-degree reckless endangerment.


The victim is currently listed in stable condition.



Authorities recovered a Security-9 pistol at the scene. An investigation into the incident is continuing. No further information is available at this time.
