Niagara Falls History Museum

Come and visit the Museum in the heart of Niagara Falls, where you can step back in time and immerse yourself in history. Try on a replica uniform from the War of 1812, feel the weight of a musket in your hands, get creative and build a bridge to span the awe-inspiring Niagara Gorge, or even dare to walk the tightrope like the fearless daredevils of the past.

The Museum is housed within the charming old Stamford Township Hall, which was built in 1874. Originally given to the Lundy's Lane Historical Society in 1971, it became the Lundy's Lane Historical Museum. Since January 1st, 2010, the City of Niagara Falls has taken direct operation of the museum, transforming it into the Niagara Falls History Museum. With its extensive collection of Niagara Falls history, the museum serves as a captivating window into the unique past of this world-famous city.

Thanks to a recent $12M renovation and expansion, the museum now offers a dynamic space for visitors to explore and delve into our diverse history. Reopened to the public on July 21, 2012, the renovated space, designed by the renowned Toronto architecture firm Moriyama and Teshima, boasts three remarkable galleries that bring the most compelling stories of Niagara Falls to life through engaging hands-on exhibitions.

Situated just steps away from the Drummond Hill Cemetery, the focal point of the Battle of Lundy's Lane, considered the "bloodiest battle" of the War of 1812, the museum serves as the perfect starting point for any trip to this historic battlefield. So come and experience history firsthand by visiting the Museum, a true gem nestled in the heart of Niagara Falls.
