A 31-year-old woman from Niagara Falls has been sentenced to time served and three years probation for her involvement in providing fentanyl that led to her mother's fatal overdose. The sentencing was handed down on Wednesday by Senior U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny.
Ranique Davis pleaded guilty in February to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute and to distribute fentanyl. The case stems from an incident that occurred on April 22nd, 2021, when Lockport police and fire personnel responded to a 911 call at a residence on South Street. Upon arrival, they found Davis' mother and stepfather unconscious and unresponsive due to fentanyl overdoses.
While Davis' stepfather was revived with Narcan and survived the incident, her mother could not be resuscitated despite efforts of first responders and was pronounced dead at the scene. Prosecutors revealed that earlier that evening Davis had communicated with her stepfather agreeing to provide him with blue Percocet pills.
Following their exchange, Davis, along with two co-conspirators, drove to her parents' home where they sold her stepfather four counterfeit Percocet pills which were actually laced with fentanyl. After ingesting the pills, both her mother and stepfather lost consciousness.
