In a heroic act, two Niagara Falls police officers successfully rescued a woman from her smoke-filled apartment on 23rd Street in the early hours of Sunday, August 25th. Emergency crews were dispatched to the 600 block of 23rd Street around 4am in response to a possible structure fire.
Upon arrival, officers were informed that there might be someone trapped on the second floor of the building. Without hesitation, the officer entered the smoke-filled apartment and located an unconscious woman who was still breathing. Despite the challenging conditions, the officer attempted to drag the woman to safety. Shortly after, a second police officer arrived at the scene, providing much-needed assistance. Together, the two officers managed to carry the woman outside - ensuring her safety.
Moments later, Niagara Falls firefighters arrived and met the officers. Firefighters wasted no time in providing immediate medical attention to the woman until an AMR arrived and took over her care. The woman was transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The swift actions of both police officers, and the prompt response from the firefighters and medical personnel, played a crucial role in ensuring the woman did not die of smoke inhalation. well-being. While care was being provided to the woman, firefighters were locating the source of the smoke and extinguishing the fire.
