Niagara Falls Police Assist in Locating Discarded Handgun After Suspect Flees


In a swift response to a call-out for a subject with a gun, Niagara Falls Police successfully located a discarded handgun after the suspect took off running. The incident occurred on Monday, July 15th around 8:30 PM in the vicinity of 36th Street and Dudley Avenue.



Niagara County Probation officers were engaged in a conversation with an individual near 36th Street and Belden Place when, during their interaction, one of the probation officers noticed a group of four males in close proximity to their location. To their alarm, one of the males in the group brandished a firearm. Reacting swiftly, the probation officer immediately alerted other officers on the scene by shouting "gun" and promptly transmitted a radio message regarding the presence of an armed individual.



In response to the alert, the four males fled the scene prompting a thorough search of the area by law enforcement. During the extensive canvas of the vicinity, officers discovered a discarded handgun behind an address near 36th Street and Dudley Avenue. The firearm was promptly photographed and collected by crime scene detectives for further investigation.



Despite the successful recovery of the weapon, no arrests were made at the scene. The Niagara Falls Police Department encourages anyone with information related to this incident to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation. Residents are reminded to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
