Niagara Falls Police were on routine patrol when they came across a male panhandling around the 6600 block of Niagara Falls Boulevard on Friday, April 19th.
Officers approached the male who they recognized from prior police contact and were aware that he had outstanding warrants out of Niagara Falls City Court.
The male was escorted to the vehicle and an officer began handcuffing procedures. The officer had to handcuff the male’s right arm to a belt buckle due to his left arm being in a full molded cast. The male then struck the officer and made contact with his chest. He then mule kicked the officer with his legs.
Officers were able to place the male into the vehicle despite continued resistance. The back metal cage of the patrol vehicle was damaged when the male struck it after breaking the belt loop that was holding the handcuffs.
The male was transported to police headquarters. No further information is available.
