A man from Niagara Falls has been sentenced to a total of 90 days in jail following a hit-and-run incident that left a pedestrian injured near the Buffalo Niagara International Airport.
According to the Erie County District Attorney’s Office, the incident occurred on February 27th when 51-year-old Travis Rosario struck a 44-year-old man from Williamsville while he was crossing Luiz Kahl Way, close to Genesee Street, shortly before 5am.
After the collision, Rosario fled the scene without notifying law enforcement. The victim was subsequently transported to ECMC where he received treatment for serious injuries including multiple fractures and a head injury.
In September, Rosario entered a guilty plea for leaving the scene of an accident that resulted in serious injury. He faced a potential sentence of up to four years in prison. Instead, he will only serve about 60 days (2/3 of 90 days). As part of the split sentence, he will also be required to complete five years of probation.
