Niagara Falls Police were responding to a missing juvenile call around 11:00pm on June 5th when a gunshot went off, potentially fired in the direction of the officer.

While speaking with two parties regarding the missing juvenile, the officer heard a single gunshot go off. He turned his head quickly because it sounded “like it came from roughly three houses down on the north side of the street.”

Based on his training and experience, the officer believed the shot was made toward him. “The way it sounded was like someone had potentially shot at me or in my general direction,” he stated in the report.

The officer grabbed the juvenile he was talking to, ushered him to safety, and then took cover behind the porch until additional units arrived.

Once additional units arrived a parameter was established. Officers attempted to locate some sort of scene in front of the identified addresses but were unable to do so.

Several individuals who police spoke to said they heard the shot. However, each was largely uncooperative afterwards when it came to giving information.

After being unable to locate a crime scene all units cleared the area. No further information is available.
