One of the best kept secrets of Niagara Falls is its illumination in a variety of colors each night. The illumination starts at dusk and continues for several hours each night.
In one hour, you could see the American, Horseshoe and Bridal Veil Falls illuminated purple, blue, red, green, pink and orange. You could also see different patterns of colors such as a rainbow, colors of the Canadian flag, and even of the U.S. flag.
Perfect spots to view the falls at night on the U.S. side include the Niagara Falls State Park, Terrapin Point, Goat Island, and Luna Island. On the Canadian side, you can clearly see the illumination from most places along the water.
There special illuminations throughout the year listed online for special occasions such as Independence Day, Canada Day, awareness campaigns, commemorating history, and more. You can find a full list of those illuminations here: https://www.niagaraparks.com/events/event/falls-illumination
