UPDATE

The parties involved in the fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred at the intersection of Lake and Carmen Roads in the Town of Somerset on September 10th, 2024 at 14:31 hours, have been identified as follows: The deceased operator of the north bound 2024 Nissan was seventy-eight year old Louis A. Greenwald of Lake Wales, Florida. The driver of the east bound 2019 GMC was seventy-seven year old Earl H. Foster of Wilson.



ORIGINAL STORY

On Tuesday, September 10th, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Lake and Carmen Roads in the Town of Somerset.


Initial investigation by responding Deputies at the scene revealed that a 2024 Nissan was north bound on Carmen Road when it failed to yield the right of way to a 2019 GMC that was east bound on Lake Road.



The GMC stuck the Nissan after which it traveled into the cornfield northeast of the intersection where it came to rest. The Nissan came to rest in the intersection upon the roadway.


The seventy-seven year old male operator of GMC was transported by ambulance to Lockport Memorial Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The seventy-eight year old male operator of the Nissan was transported by Mercy Flight to ECMC where he was succumbed to his injuries a short time later.



Investigation by the Niagara County Sheriff's Office into the crash is continuing. No further information is available at this time.
