A pedestrian was injured in a hit-and-run incident near Highmark Stadium on Sunday night resulting in charges against a North Tonawanda man. According to the Orchard Park Police, the accident occurred on Abbott Road shortly after the conclusion of the Bills game.
The driver, 31-year-old Anthony Mayo, allegedly struck the pedestrian with his grey Dodge pickup truck. Following the collision, Mayo reportedly attempted to flee the scene but became ensnared in traffic where he was subsequently apprehended by law enforcement.
The victim, a 39-year-old man from Rochester, was taken to ECMC with serious injuries, but is in stable condition. Mayo faces multiple charges including driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident involving personal injury, along with various vehicle and traffic violations.
After refusing to take a breath test, he was arraigned and later released on his own recognizance.
