On Saturday, September 7th at 3:25am the Niagara County Sheriff’s Office Communications Center received a 911 call from a homeowner reporting his residence was filling with smoke at 8713 Main Street in the Village of Barker.
Upon arrival, Deputies located an active fire inside of the home and reported that the two occupants at home had already evacuated.
Responding personnel from numerous fire companies arrived on scene and extinguished the fire. One of the occupants, an 18-year-old female, was transported to Medina Memorial Hospital for evaluation and treatment of minor injuries. The home is being considered a total loss; however, the total damage amount is not yet available.
The residents of the house have been connected with the American Red Cross for emergency assistance. The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Niagara County Origin and Cause Team.
