In a recent episode of the "Drew and Stew Podcast," NFL podcaster Cam Stewart found himself in hot water with Taylor Swift fans after making a controversial remark about the pop star. While discussing the Kansas City Chiefs' 9-0 record, Stewart attempted to defend the Buffalo Bills and their supporters expressing his desire for good things to happen for the city.
“I love Buffalo,” Stewart stated. “I love the people there. I love the food there and I want something positive to happen for these people. Haven’t they been through enough? Kansas City, ‘Oh, we’re in Kansas City. We’re living the great life. We win every week.’”
The conversation took a turn when co-host Drew Livingstone mentioned that Swift was expected to attend the upcoming game in Buffalo to support her boyfriend, Chiefs TE Travis Kelce. Stewart's reaction, however, was less than favorable.
“Oh, who cares?!” he exclaimed, before making a comment that would ignite the fury of Swift's fanbase: “Throw her in the [Niagara] Falls.”
What Stewart likely intended as a throwaway joke quickly backfired and lead to a flood of angry responses from Swifties on social media. Many fans expressed their outrage, with one user tweeting, “@CamStewartLive you’re a vile sob,” while another warned him, “Karma is about to hit bad. I hope he’s ready for it.”
As the backlash grew, some fans cautioned Stewart about the power of Swift's fanbase.
“Buddy. There are fans more powerful and more ruthless than Chiefs fans. They are called Swifties. They are about to unleash hell on your life. Big mistake…” one user commented. Although Stewart has not issued a formal apology, he did respond to a user on X who questioned the appropriateness of his joke, stating, “Didn’t mean it bad joke.”
Meanwhile, fellow podcaster Pat Mayo reported that Stewart has been receiving numerous death threats since the incident.
