In a recent survey conducted by ESPN, over 100 NFL players voted Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen as the league's "most overrated" quarterback. While Allen has been highly regarded by the Western New York faithful and NFL fans across the country, it appears that players around the NFL have a different perspective.
The survey asked players six different questions about quarterbacks in the league including identifying the top three current QBs, predicting the most successful rookie signal-caller, determining the most underrated QB, identifying the biggest trash talker, and selecting the most overrated QB. Notably, Allen received the most votes for the latter category with 11 players labeling him as the most overrated.
Philadelphia Eagles' Jalen Hurts and Miami Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa tied for second place with 10 votes a piece. Interestingly, Allen also ranked fourth in the category of top current quarterbacks and claimed the top spot as biggest trash talker.
According to the ESPN, one anonymous NFC West player cited Allen's high number of turnovers as a reason for considering him overrated. Last season, Allen threw a career-high 18 interceptions and fumbled the ball seven times, losing four of them.
Allen has led the Bills to five consecutive postseason berths and four consecutive AFC East titles. He has recorded over 40 touchdowns in four straight seasons, an NFL record, and has received NFL MVP votes in three of those years. His dynamic playing style utilizing both his arm and legs is evident in his impressive stats from last season where he amassed 4,830 total yards and 44 total touchdowns.
Allen can silence his critics this season by limiting turnovers while continuing his domination on the stat sheet. As the new NFL season approaches, all eyes will be on Josh Allen as he aims to bring a Super Bowl to Buffalo.
