Music Venue Resolves Issue with Bills’ James Cook After Unpaid Tab Incident

A downtown music venue announced that a situation involving Buffalo Bills running back James Cook, who was reported to have left without paying a substantial tab, was quickly and amicably resolved. Venu, located on W. Chippewa Street, issued a statement on Friday clarifying that the incident was an accident and expressed their appreciation for Cook's professionalism in addressing the matter.

The incident occurred in the early morning hours of September 22nd during a sold-out DJ show at Venu where Cook ordered bottle service including two bottles of Don Julio Reposado Tequila, a high-end bottle of champagne, water bottles, energy drinks. With tax and gratuity, the total bill was $1,028.

According to the police report, Cook inadvertently forgot to settle his bill before leaving the venue. In their statement, Venu described Cook as very polite and respectful throughout the situation.

“Unfortunately, he forgot to pay his tab,” the venue noted. “Since then, Mr. Cook has contacted us and fixed the situation and has been very polite and respectful. … There were no ill intentions. We are all human. What matters is how you handle it after, and Mr. Cook handled it very professionally!”

The police report indicated that Venu had reached out to two members of the Bills security staff regarding the incident. However, the report was not filed until October 7th, more than two weeks after the event took place. An update released two days later confirmed that the debt had been paid and that Venu no longer wished to pursue prosecution. With the matter resolved, Venu says Cook is welcomes back anytime.
