The Niagara Falls community is reeling from a tragic incident that unfolded during a peaceful memorial event on Saturday night. A local man, identified as 43-year-old Anthony Brantley of Niagara Falls, lost his life in a senseless shooting that occurred at the intersection of 9th Street and Ferry Avenue.
The incident took place during a community block party that has been a cherished tradition for years. On August 24th around 8:50pm, the Niagara Falls Police Department responded to the scene after receiving reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered a large crowd gathered for the nearby memorial gathering and found Anthony Brantley unresponsive on the front lawn. He had sustained gunshot wounds to the chest and he had already lost a significant amount of blood.
Law enforcement immediately took action to secure the area and provided life-saving measures to the victim. Despite their best efforts Brantley was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
The suspect was described by witnesses as a male dressed in all black with a hoodie pulled over his head.
